3rd Annual
Greensgiving

Hosted by the University of North Texas

UNT's Greensgiving, a part of the social entrepreneurship course offered by the G. Bryant School of Business, is a festive student-led event supporting local nonprofit crowdfunding campaigns. Organized by UNT social entrepreneurship students, 2024's event featured live music, raffles, a silent auction, and a charity pint night.

Community Outreach

As a lead social media manager for this event, myself and my partner connected local business owners, school administration, and paid for sponsored social media posts to promote the event and extend invites to those most invested in making the UNT and Denton communities great.

Event Planning

I was a main contributor to planning the event's food, drink, and entertainment. Taking part of this gave me even more appreciation for the connections and work it takes for a successful event.

Crowdfunding

Despite participating in church and school sponsored fundraising I had not gotten an opportunity to learn as much about connecting people through a cause as I did through this course. With this goal to reach, I have gotten to utilize and see real results from my love for advertising.

Over $4,000 Raised

Our event was the most successful the course had seen in its 3 years since being offered at UNT. In just under one month our 10 fundraisers for local Denton charities raised over $4,000 through social media outreach, our live auction event, raffles, and after-hours party.

Jeremy Short

Professor in the Department of Management and G. Brint Ryan College of Business’ endowed chair in entrepreneurship

"I’ve always envisioned this course helping UNT students integrate with the Denton community. The students are required to fundraise for a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and I encourage them to choose organizations local to Denton. I’m very flattered when I tell people about this course and they say, ‘Every college course should be like this one.’"

After-Hours Party

Pint Night at Lucky Lous is a long standing tradition, when Thursday night happy hour raises donations and awareness. Our students arranged the first ever Greensgiving sponsored Pint Night, and partnered with RedBull and local brews for an exclusive menu that came with a customized pint glass to commemorate the event.
